Education and Certification
· No formal education requirement
· No certificates, licences or professional memberships required
Experience
· 7 months to less than 1 year of experience providing child care, home child care, or similar caregiving support
· Relevant child care or household management experience is preferred
· Applicants must be able to independently and safely perform the duties of the position
Duties and Responsibilities
The Child Care Provider will provide attentive and responsible care for one school-aged child in the employer’s home. Duties include:
· Supervise and care for the child in the employer’s residence
· Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the child
· Assist and guide the child with personal hygiene and daily routines, as appropriate for the child’s age
· Help the child prepare for school and maintain consistent before-school and after-school routines
· Plan and organize age-appropriate games, recreational activities and outings
· Encourage the child’s social, emotional and general well-being
· Maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment in the home
· Accompany the child to and from school, appointments, activities and playdates, as required
· Keep the parents informed about the child’s daily activities, routines, health and general well-being
· Perform light housekeeping duties directly related to the child’s care, including tidying play and activity areas and cleaning up after meals and activities
· Assume responsibility for the child’s care and the household during the parents’ absence
